The "Crew Sayers" Connection
The Austin Savoy Dancers

This program focuses on the hey day of the Swing Era at the Savoy Hotel, 1935-1942. Four artists describe the dance and have students and teachers participate. Tap is an integral part of the show also.
The performance introduces the era where the Lindy Hop was created and where the Big Band sound was at its supreme. The dancers swirl and stomp to the Shim Sham, the Big Apple and Tap Dancing. The dancers are accompanied with the music of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Jimmy Luncesford, Artie Shaw and others.
